Friendship Retirement Community

Spring 2012 - Roanoke, VA

The Friendship Addition was a study in the environmental possibilities within residential architecture. In addition I also chose to focus on the new experience of the community post-addition, as well as the interaction of daylight with the architectural elements of the program. Each decision was based on the need for environmentally conscious design, as I chose to make utility and maintenance costs were a priority of the program. The master plan is centered around proposed community areas. Each unit focused on residential needs that would include ADA standards, programmatic requirements, massing, and spatial quality.
